1.Gumbo
The next version of Flex, code name Gumbo, is now in active development. It is has 3 primary themes:
- Design in Mind: provide a framework meant for continuous collaboration between designer and developer.
- Developer Productivity: improve compiler performance and add productivity enhancements to language features like data binding
- Framework Evolution: take advantage of new Flash Player capabilities and add features required by common use-cases

About a month ago, the Flex team announced that nightly builds of the next version of Flex (code named Gumbo) were now available on the opensource Flex site. Along with early versions of the SDK, the team also posted a ton of other information, including specs and API docs.

I usually avoid any online video presentations that last longer than 15 minutes (my attention span limit), but in this case, I made an exception. This one hour and ten minute video is loaded with some VERY good content including information and demos of Flash 10, Flex 4, AIR 1.5, FXG / MXMLG, Thermo and the announcement of the collaboration of Degrafa and Adobe.

5.Gumbo!!! Setup Flex 4 in Flex Builder 3
So I finally decided to jump into Flex 4 (codenamed “Gumbo”).Gumbo has a lot of changes from Flex 3. Check out this article for what’s new in Flex 4 . Gumbo doesnt have a stable release yet so download a nightly build. Gumbo needs Flash Player 10, so you have to download that as well. So lets get started.

Surfing on web I read Ted’s blog that talk about new feature of Flex 4 (codename Gumbo) about states!
So I take a look at opensource.adobe.com page that talks about this new feature… very cool!
Adobe creates a very simple way to add, remove, show and hide components in a Flex application with a new attributes: includeIn and excludeFrom.
